I still dream of lining up for Liverpool FC every week, or of becoming the 5th member of U2 – but it’s fair to say I’m not expecting a call from Rafa Benitez or Bono any time soon.
Back in the real world though, I really enjoy working in the Tech PR industry. It’s a dynamic, fast-moving marketplace, no two days are the same and there’s always a new challenge just around the corner – whether it’s helping a start-up business to launch a new technology product/service, or shining a light on a software company that is a well kept secret in the industry.
Good PR is all about working with clients to cut through technology jargon and decipher what it is that really makes them different – and then presenting this information to journalists in a timely, concise manner. Creativity is important but ultimately it’s tried and tested processes and hard work that delivers the best results.
I still get a real buzz out of generating great Press coverage for clients which in turn helps them to become better known and more successful at what they do.
