Euro 2012 – it’s over!
Published by Jenny Williams, Account Manager
Euro 2012 is finally over, and unsurprisingly, I did not find that I shared the level of excitement over the last four weeks radiated by certain others in the office. Rather, I found myself gazing at the television and wondering just how much longer I would have to put up with it!
And my resentment is not just because I drew the Republic of Ireland in the sweepstake! Well done to Rachel by the way for skilfully drawing Spain and taking the glory and the prize money!
Now, I am not going to lie and pretend that I am some kind of football oracle – that couldn’t be farther from the truth – but when it comes to team sports, I am there.
For instance, I love rugby with a passion – it is a real game, the shorts are shorter, the shoulders are stronger and the tackles are full impact and blood fuelled – and yes I cheer, I scream, I count down the days until the Six Nations and the World Cup and I support, get behind it and genuinely love it.
But football? In my opinion, 90 long minutes (and that is without injury time) of watching overpaid grown men crying and writhing around in the kind of agony that my seven year old son laughed at!
Bring back Corrie and Eastenders at their normal times!
